Laia Puig Azagra

Laia Puig

Laia started to dance when she was six years old and danced Ballet, Contemporary, Flamenco and Ballroom dancing all through her youth. Her parents brought her to a Swing concert when she was 19 and she was hooked instantly.

She is based in Barcelona, where she combines her day job as a science teacher with dancing and community building. Her teaching is focused on getting followers to participate actively and with a strong rhythm in the dance.

She is constantly trying to improve by taking Tap and Afro Fusion classes to complement her practice of Solo Jazz and Lindy Hop. Laia likes to perform and compete (often with her partner Gustav Jakobsson) both in Lindy Hop and Solo Jazz and has had good results at events such as The Snowball, ILHC, Lindy Shock and lately at ILHC Europe.

Laia has been dancing Lindy Hop for 15 years and she is eternally grateful for the opportunities this dance gives her, traveling to many countries, teaching, competing and sharing her love for this African American dance form for the last 10 years.
