Irene is greek italian, born in lake Garda (IT), she is a visual artist and a dancer. Trained in classical dance for many years, she likes to try different things to combine her experience gained from different dance forms, aiming for better technique as well as rhythmical and musical understanding. Her curiosity led her to lindy hop, in Athens in 2010, but she really got to know it in Gent , where she lived for almost two years, she discovered authentic jazz and started teaching. In 2012 she met her partner Tony Jackson, with whom they are often travelling together to teach in different events, as well as compete. In 2015, for about two years, she lived in Stockholm, where she continued her studies in art and developed her dance furthermore.
Irene likes to travel, social dance and take as many classes as possible, she loves to compete and has been doing so with many placements. As a dancer she believes in a dance that feels natural and comfortable which allows her to be creative, rhythmical and connect with the music as well as her partner. As a teacher, she loves to explore and share these ideas with her students. Since 2013, she is running the first project in Athens focusing mainly on vernacular jazz, the Athens Authentic Jazz Dance.
Since September 2018, she is based in Gent, as a master student, as well as a humble contributor to the city’s vibrant dance scene.
