Ella "Ghost Note" Lejonstål is the flying fashion icon of Harlem Hot Shots. She's the youngest in the game and started dancing at Chicago swing dance studio not too long ago. But already as a kid she got interested in the aesthetics of swing from watching the musical film Bugsy Malone.
Ella was born and raised on one of the many small islands of Stockholm. Her favourite colour is yellow and her favourite food is small pancakes. She loves to take a swim in the ocean, be it summer or the middle of winter - but according to the doctor she's allergic to the nordic winter climate.
Her favourite dance clip is the one of Florence Hill and Bessie Dudley dancing to the music of Duke Ellington - she's attracted to the joy in their jazz dancing. She also loves the dancing of Ann Johnson and can watch the lindy hop routine from Killer Diller countlessly to find inspiration and details that she likes.
Like Ann, one of Ella's strengths as a dancer is for sure the acrobatics. She's fearless in the air and somehow always lands on her feet. The most important thing with dancing is to have fun she says. As a performer she wants to show the dance to others to make them interested too. She wants to inspire.
There's a lot to know about Ella apart from the dancing. Many of her professions and interests are connected to the world around the stage and moving arts - working at the opera, making puppets, writing scripts for films and to practice filmmaking in general.
She recently started playing the saxophone in a jazz band but her taste in music reaches more genres than jazz. A bit odd for her generation maybe, she likes the rock 'n' roll from the 70s and 80s and AC/DC is her favourite band. Ella always has a smile on her face and being around her makes us happy.
