Beibei began her swing journey in Beijing in 2013, when there were not many dancers in China and limited resources in Chinese. Driven by the shortage of local teachers and the urge to share the joy of swing dance with more people, Beibei began teaching and learning at the same time. She hasn’t stopped since! This experience has taught her that there are no absolute teacher-student relationships. Just as she gives her all to teaching each class, she is also able to gleam inspiration from her students. These pleasant surprises from those around her continues to keep her ideas fresh.
Obsessed with rhythm, she had always enjoyed walking with improvised rhythms since childhood. Beibei draws continuous inspiration from old films, her training in jazz flute, tap dancing, and the Herrang chorus line. In teaching, she hopes to pass this inspiration on to her students, and work with them to inject new vitality to classic materials.
