This program was introduced a handful of years ago, took a break last year, but is now ready for a come-back. New for this year is that the course has both a specialized vocal teacher and a specialized dance teacher. The aim of the course is to fully link singing and dancing into one thing rather than two separate things: the singing part will link with swing movement and rhythmics, and the dance part will be looked upon from a perspective of blending music and rhythm.
The classes are split between vocal and dance classes, although the two teachers (Mimi Terris and Naomi Uyama) will interlink their material in a few classes led by them both. The singing part of the program takes inspiration from three-part-harmony jazz vocals, Hollywood musicals, and gospel harmony, while the dancing part links with general solo jazz as well as rhythmical chorus line dancing.
