Shag

This dance, sometimes known as the Carolina Shag, dates back to the 1930s and originated in the beach front areas of South Carolina and North Carolina The dance form is somehow a relative and an offshoot of the Lindy Hop and the Jitterbug. The Shag was often, and still is, danced to traditional swing music, and has a six-count basic footwork including dips, turns and stylized passes. The dance form is also the official state dance of South Carolina.
