Pontus Persson

Stockholm

Lindy Hop, Authentic Jazz

With rhythm in his hips before a diaper around them and with four older siblings who gave him the inspiration, Pontus started to dance naturally as a five year-old in 1994. Only one year later, he started to compete and thereby found an interest of the two swing dances available, Boogie Woogie and Lindy Hop. He found a partner in 1998 and started to dance Lindy Hop and started to compete immediately. The following year he started to dance Boogie Woogie with his nowadays main partner Lizette.

Already in the junior classes they got successful, also gaining appreciation by the crowd very quickly. Most notable though, is their win of the Swedish- and World Championship 2006 in Boogie Woogie Junior class along with the 3rd place in Lindy Hop Showcase division of the Lindy World Championship 2007, where they got ranked as 4th overall.

Since 2007, Pontus has been performing alongside with the Harlem Hot Shots, in which he joined in 2009. Pontus has danced for 15 years, and has now moved from his former hometown Borås to Stockholm in order to evolve his dance further more.
Pontus precious all kinds of swing-dancing (Lindy Hop, Jitterbug, Boogie Woogie, Charleston, Tap, Authentic Jazz). However, he thinks it's important to preserve the original ways of the dance in order not to lose the right rhythm and feeling of what results in the term: Swing-dancing.

He teaches in a way that highlights the individual style by giving tips from all the different angles. During his time as a dancer, he has learned to perform and understand the dance in order to help his students to become better dancers.

Pontus is well known for his way with the ladies and his ninjaskillz. (That is to say, his bad sense of humour and good sense of trying.)
