Naomi Uyama discovered lindy hop in her hometown of Washington DC over ten years ago. For the past decade she has taught workshops around the world, and performed for dance and music legends alike. Naomi has won first place titles from American Lindy Hop Championships, Ultimate Lindy Hop Showdown, and the U.S. Open Swing Dance Championships. Her love of dance incited her love of jazz music, which lead to her former 'History of Jazz' internship at the prestigious Smithsonian Institution. She is proud to be a founding member of the Jam Cellar, a Tuesday night venue in DC, and the Silver Shadows, an international performance troupe. When she's not travelling in the name of triple steps, decorating cakes, or loving libraries, Naomi spends most of her life not being Nina Gilkenson, despite the large amounts of people that think she is.
