Legendary swing dancer Frank Manning passed away in the morning of April 27 in Lenox Hill Hospital, New York City. Herräng Dance Camp as well as all other swing dancers around the world, are together with his family and close friends, among the mourning. At this moment it’s still more or less impossible to understand what obviously has happened, and the loss of lindy hoppin’s true ambassador for more than 80 years cannot be described in words. We believe that the cultural legacy that throughout the years has been emanating from Frankie has been of everlasting and outstanding value. We all owe him a lot, especially dancers here in Sweden and Herräng Dance Camp in particular, where Frankie has spent every summer for more than twenty years. From all of us over here, dancers and close friends, thank you very much Frankie for an exceptional contribution to our lives and human values – please rest in peace, we won’t forget.
