A week in Herräng is more than just classes: The surrounding activities and festivities are an important part of the experience.
This is how a typical week at the camp will look like:
· Tuesday night: Slow Drag Night
· Thursday night: Cabaret
· Friday night: Friday Night Masquerade
In addition, there will be social dancing all evenings and nights, line-up of discjockeys, bands playing at least two nights a week, daily meetings, cultural day, panel discussions, film shows and much more.
Slow Drag Night
Slow drag, blues or just slow dancing - the synonyms may be a few but no matter what you want to call it this is the night of Billie Holiday’s crying hymns. It is slow, it is close and it is sensual. If you don’t fancy dressing up all nights this is truly the night to put on your gown or suit and get ready for the bluesiest evening of the week.
Cabaret
This night you either enter the stage or join the audience - the choice is all yours. Opera, magic, Russian folkore or the Commedia dell’Arte, all different kinds of acts are welcome! So if you happen to have a hidden talent, do not hesitate to sign up once you arrive in Herräng. Amateur or pro, good or bad, it doesn’t matter as long as it is short. Anyone has their opportunity to shine for a minute or three.
Friday Night Masquerade
Every Friday has its own theme where all decorations, costumes and activities eminates from the actual theme. It can be anything from the Woodstock festival to celebrating Christmas in July or simply A night of horror. Each Friday is different and each year has different themes for every Friday Night Masquerade. So please make sure to take an extra peek at what’s on for the Friday you are going to be a part of. Bring you costume or be creative at the camp and make something spectacular to put on.
